February 21, 2008 - Wade Redden was born on June 12, 1977 in Lloydminster, Saskatchewan, Canada. Currently, he is a defenceman in the NHL for the Ottawa Senators.
As a young boy, Redden enjoyed hockey and fastball. From kindergarten until ninth grade, he attended Hillmond School. He then attended Lloydminster Comprehensive School for tenth grade and the last two years of high school in Brandon, Manitoba. In 1987, Redden won the Saskatchewan Hackey Sack Championship as well as participating in the Road Hockey Rumble.
Redden's childhood is filled with minor league hockey memories. He was a member of the Brandon Wheat Kings and win two gold medeals at the Championship games.
In 1995, Redden was drafted into the NHL as the 2nd overall pick. He was traded by the New York Islanders to the Ottawa Senators a year later. Since then, Redden has made a definite mark on the Senators. Since his induction onto the team, the Senators have advanced to the NHL Playoffs each year. His first NHL goal came agains the Montreal Canadiens.
Other awards Redden has earned include WHL Rookie of the Year in 1994, the Memorial Cup All-Star Team Award in 1996, the NHL Plus/Minus Award in 2006 and many more!
Redden added another milestone to his list of accomplishments on January 10, 2008 when he played his 800th NHL game against the Buffalo Sabres.
